I come from Santa Barbara, California.
Friends, family and swim matter to me.
I love french fries, avocado, picnics, and swim (sometimes.)
I'm not sure where I'm going, but I do know that I am going to swim practice after school, but other than that not really sure where I'm headed.
I dread running, its absolutely terrible.
I hope for fun times, good laughs and great memories.
Currently I really need ice, but long term Im gonna need support, and a job.
I'm Maria, I swim pretty much everyday, (unless I get lazy.) I LOVE french fries. I hate pigeons.

The Handmaidens Tale is a transformational book for me. It shows how quickly the government could become something that controls people’s personal lives, including how they reproduce. The government in The Handmaiden’s Tale is so controlling that they even change the main characters name to Offred. Offred means “Of Fred”, the man of the household Offred is a slave in.This book is transformational because it made me realize that this could possibly happen in the future. It’s scary but I think it’s good that I read it because it made me think about the future differently.

The Museum of Tolerance: A Day that Changed Perspectives “Let us not forget, after all, that there is always a moment when the moral choice is made. Often because of one story or one book or one person, we are able to make a different choice, a choice for humanity, for life.” A quote by Elie Wiesel. In the past few months a lot has happened, to influence my choices as a person. We as a nation have gained a new president, Donald Trump. A person who I personally would never aspire to be anything like nor replicate any of his actions. Another thing that happened, I was diagnosed with Lyme disease, not really a big deal in the scheme of things, but was a pretty big deal for me. Then there was Febuary tenth about two weeks ago when everything was really put into perspective. Our teacher announced where we were going a few days before the trip. Dear President Taylor, I am writing to you today because I am currently a slave, and I can easily tell you that life as a slave is not at all easy. As we as a country expand westward I strongly believe that the territories that we decide to inhabit should be free states, giving slaves like me rights, and land. As we have just won California and Texas from the Mexicans I believe that both should be free states, and I believe that The compromise of 1850 is unfair. Because the slave laws are too harsh the fact that we can be brought back to the slave state and forced to work again is completely unfair.
